How to look less tired

For many of us the drivers to have injectable treatments are not as simple as ‘vanity’. In fact I really don’t like the use of the term vanity. For me this is a ‘put down’ or a criticism used to make people feel bad about themselves.
Reality is, most of the people we have the pleasure of treating in clinic present because there is something about their features that communicates a message to the world that is inaccurate:
- Tired
- Sad
- Angry
- Unhealthy
What are 'tear troughs'?
These are the typical triggers for seeking aesthetic treatments. Tear trough refers to the groove underneath the eye area. This can often worsen as we age and start to lose a little cheek volume, but for some a groove may develop in that region from a young age. This problem can be complicated by a darkness under the eye – sometimes this is pigment, sometime related to thinness of the skin showing through the hue of blood vessels underneath.
What is tear trough filler?
Tear trough filler is the delicate process of placing dermal filler in the groove of the eye. This works by creating an illusion of smoothness under the eye, taking away the tired look. This treatment can help with dark shadows, though this effect may be slower to develop.
How long does tear trough filler last?
Tear trough filler lasts around 6-12 months, often once someone has had it a couple of times, they start to find it lasts even longer.
Planning for tear trough filler
If you would like to book in for tear trough filler, here are a few things to bear in mind - Whilst not common- bruising is possible so as with all injectable treatments – allow plenty of time in between tear trough filler & any important work or social engagements. - To reduce risk of bruising – avoid alcohol the night before - Arnica tablets or cream (available from the chemist) can also help with managing bruising. - You will see an improvement with tear trough filler immediately, but you will find that the result gets better and better over time. - Typically this treatment will last for around 9- 18 months.
