Baffled by Skin Problems? Bring on 'The B Word'

‘This week I wanted to let you know about some of the more exciting and lesser known different ways you can do with botulinum toxin.
Introducing ‘The B Word’
Firstly let me give you a brief explanation a phrase I use a lot ‘the B word’ and the reason I use this phrase. The word we all use Botulinum Toxin is one of those things that people refer to by a particular brand name, without knowing it. In the same way that people refer to tissues as ‘Kleenex’. So, the ‘B word’ is that famous brand name. And the reason that we are not actually allowed to promote by the name is that because it is a ‘prescription only medication’ and it is against regulations in the UK to directly advertise or promote a prescription only medication to the general public.
This is the reason that you will see all different kinds of terminology used, whether it is ‘wrinkle reduction injections’ or ‘anti wrinkle injections’. So if you have ever wondered about this, now you know!
The Myths
There seem to be a lot of people in the world who are very knowledgeable treatments such as Botulinum Toxin. Their opinions however are often based on the way certain celebrities look in the media, or something that they read in the press and not upon personal experience. Popular myths include ‘once it wears off you look 10 years older’ ‘You are basically injecting poison into your skin’ and ‘if you have this treatment you lose all ability to have facial expressions’

Traditional uses
Just a reminder, the traditional uses are to soften the expressive lines caused by muscle activity in the forehead, frown and crow’s feet (around the eyes).

Additional uses
Other uses which you may or may not be aware of include
Bunny lines (lines created when you scrunch up your nose).
In many these lines are soft and have no adverse effect on the general appearance.
Jaw relaxation
Those who grind their teeth (especially during the night) and as a result damage the teeth, develop tension aches in the jaw / face can benefit enormously from relaxing the jaw muscle.
Also those who naturally have a dominating jaw muscle or have developed this width due to teeth grinding can experience fantastic facial slimming from this treatment.
Smokers lines (barcode lines)
You do not have to be a smoker to have very strong muscles around the mouth which in time can create vertical grooves from the lip borders outwards.
Gummy Smile
You may feel self conscious about your smile due to showing too much gum when you smile. This is easily resolved by a delicate treatment stopping your lip from drawing up too strongly on smiling.
Cobbled chin
For those who have excessive dimpling in the chin area.
Happy mouth
Some of us have very strong muscles at the corners of the mouth which in time will result in a constant sad look. These muscles can also be relaxed to result around the mouth to turn the corners up and remove the grumpy look.
Neck
The neck ages in several ways, Botulinum toxin can help with the ‘scrawny look’ by releasing the pull of the muscles down towards the collar bone.
Excessive sweating
Suffering with wet patches under the arms can be for some people have a powerfully negative impact on confidence at work and social settings.
So, under the arms, you can have a series of tiny injections which works so effectively at reducing wetness. Men typically, do need a bit more than women as a rule. The effects last quite a long time, for about six to nine months on average.
The Revelation
Finally, a completely different use of Botulinum toxin.
This approach is much more common in the USA, the UK is always a little behind on new treatment approaches.
